I've been contacted to participate in mediation. Do I have to participate?
Unless you have been ordered by a court attendance is voluntary.
Who pays for the mediation?
Consumer related and community related disputes are provided at no cost due to funding from the Attorney General's Office of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Office of Public Collaboration.
Other types of cases, if a fee is warranted the parties will split the cost of the mediation fee unless other arrangements have been previously agreed to.
Can I pick the mediator I want?
Mediators are assigned based on the type of case and the availability of mediators. Mediators are normally not selected by the parties.
I'm worried about my privacy?
Mediation is confidential and your privacy will be protected.
